General Pest Management Skill Set

This General Pest Management workshop is designed to provide pest management technicians with the basic skills and knowledge required to comply with the licencing requirements to carry out Non Timber pest management.

The units of competency included in this workshop are:

CPPPMT3005 (Unit 5) Manage pests without applying pesticides
CPPPMT3006 (Unit 6) Manage pests by applying pesticides
CPPPMT3018 (Unit 18) Maintain equipment and pesticide storage area in pest management vehicles

Topics covered during this workshop include:

  • Legislation relevant to those involved in urban pest management
  • Safe storage and transport of pesticides
  • Management of vertebrate pests including rodents, birds and possums
  • management of Non Vertebrate pests including cockroaches, fleas, ants, flies, biting insects, stored product insects etc
  • Pesticide application equipment
  • Technician, client, public and environment safety
  • Pesticide selection and formulations
  • Advances in industry related technologies


To successfully complete this course you will need to:

  • Attend all daily sessions
  • Complete all theory assessment booklets self assessment booklet
  • Participate in and complete practical assessments.

Successful completion of these units provides credit towards CPP30115 Certificate III in Urban Pest Management. A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued to successful candidates.

Who should do this? – People who currently are or wish to in the future provide an urban pest management service managing non-timber pests
